According to reports, Paulo Dybala is set to join Italian giants Roma on a free transfer from Juventus. Dybala previously made it clear that he wasn’t going to renew his contract with the Biaconeri after talks between his agents and the club failed.

The 28-year-old Argentine spent 7 years with the old lady. He joined Juventus in 2015 and went on to win four Italian Cups and five league championships.

Additionally, he was chosen as the Serie A Most Valuable Player once, he was a member of the Serie A Team of the Year four times, and is Juventus’ ninth-highest goalscorer of all time. In 426 appearances for Juventus in all competitions, Dybala registered 153 goals.

He is said to have signed a contract valid until June 2025, with a salary that could reach €6 million net per year, add-ons included.

The striker played his last game for Juventus in what was an emotional one on 16 May 2022 against Lazio. During the game, he was substituted by Martin Palumbo in the 78th minute.

As he was making his way off the pitch, he received a standing ovation. Note that Dybala has played with the likes of Pirlo, Bonnucci, Chiellini, Buffon, and even Cristiano Ronaldo.

Inter Milan were once front runners in landing the Juventus star with interest also from top English sides like Arsenal and Tottenham. He was also offered to Chelsea by his agents but the Blues were focused on other targets. Now it appears Roma will be the final destination for the former Juventus player.

He will now join Jose Mourinho’s side on a 3-year deal and will look to settle in as Mourinho was key in the negotiation process. It was reported that Mourinho had a direct phone call with Dybala before the player accepted the offer.

He has landed in Portugal for his medicals and will soon be announced as a new AS Roma player.

So far this summer, AS Roma have already signed Nemanja Matic, Mile Svilar, Sergio Oliviera, and Ainsley Maitland -Niles. They have started their preseason preparation for the 2022/2023 season and will be facing Sporting Lisbon tomorrow.

They’ve previously played Sunderland and Portimonense with a comfortable 2 nil in both matches.

Roma will start the 2022/2023 Italian season away at Salernitana and the club supporters are looking forward to an impressive season after finishing last season in 6th position with 63 points and winning the maiden edition of the UEFA conference league.
