The legendary Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United is reportedly in negotiations with Sporting Lisbon about returning to the Portuguese team on loan. A report Ronaldo described as “fake”.
Sport TV in Portugal reported that negotiations are in progress for Ronaldo to make a loan return to Sporting. The player’s vehicle was reportedly spotted at the club’s stadium, Estadio José Alvalade.
If the report was anything to go by, it would have marked his second spectacular move in only two seasons. Note that Ronaldo made his Sporting senior football debut when he was a teenager.
Then-United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was impressed by his accomplishments for his boyhood club and did all in his power to get the young prodigy to Old Trafford.
Ronaldo went on to become one of the best football players in history. So far in his career, the 37-year-old Portuguese star has five Ballon d’Or victories and holds the record for most goals scored in Champions League history.
Ronaldo left United for Juventus and didn’t come back until last summer. His return to Old Trafford did not, however, produce the intended results.
He was unable to inspire a hopeless United team as they slumped to a pitiful sixth-place finish in the Premier League and missed out on Champions League qualification.
Ronaldo submitted a transfer request as a result because he believes he is still capable of playing at the highest level.
Ronaldo had a respectable season personally despite the team’s terrible performance. With 24 goals, he finished the year as the club’s leading scorer.
Only joint Golden Boot winners Mohamed Salah and Son Heung Min scored more Premier League goals than he did (18). Additionally, he was selected for the PFA Team of the Year.
Ronaldo is “not for sale,” United has insisted adamantly. In a news conference, manager Erik ten Hag revealed his objectives for the following season, including Ronaldo.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale, he is in our plans. He is not with us because to personal difficulties,” the Dutchman stated. That’s all we’re doing with Cristiano Ronaldo for this season: planning.
Numerous elite teams throughout the continent have made offers for Ronaldo, but no transfer has taken place as of yet.
Despite having direct conversations with Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, club owner Todd Boehly turned on the opportunity for Chelsea to sign the Portuguese. Earlier on, Bayern Munich stated that they had no plans to sign Ronaldo this summer.
All eyes will be firmly set on Ronaldo’s every move as the new season draws near. As it stands, only time can tell where Cristiano Ronaldo will spend his 2022-2023 season.
