When questioned in an interview who was better, he responded that Cristiano Ronaldo was due to his drive to continually become better and his attitude to training.

The Togolese International said: “I like the mentality of this player [Cristiano Ronaldo] a lot. Not only the way he plays – we all love the way he plays. But what attracts me the most is his motivation to work.

“He trains before the training sessions. Then there’s the session. After it, he continues to train. He also trains after matches. On his days off, he trains as well.”

“Do I think Ronaldo is better than Leo Messi? Yes, 250%.”

He went on to say: “The coolest partner is just that, CR7, Cristiano Ronaldo. You guys see Cristiano Ronaldo in matches. And I had the opportunity to see him in everyday training work. He is unthinkable.”

“In matches he shows 3-5% of what he is capable of doing in training. In training, he just mocked us. It’s like playing with my daughter. And I’m not exaggerating. It really is. Losing in a two-way game with any score, he can turn on and score 7 goals in 2 minutes! He’s incredible!” Adebayor said.

Last season, Messi struggled to adjust to life with Paris Saint-Germain and only managed to score six goals in the league.

He did receive a Ligue 1 champions medal, though, and in June, he and Argentina won Finalissima.

On the other hand, Ronaldo joined Manchester United again and registered 24 goals across all competitions.

However, United finished with their lowest-ever total of 58 points in the Premier League and missed out on the Champions League.

Hence, this summer, Ronaldo requested to leave Old Trafford if an “acceptable offer” is made in the coming weeks.
