Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Richarlison from Everton after holding off a late attempt from Chelsea to hijack the Brazilian striker.

The London club initially submitted an offer of £40 million at 4 p.m on Wednesday but Everton rejected it. Later, they made a revised offer of £50 million-plus add-ons, which Chelsea declined to match. Richarlison had his medical on Thursday with Tottenham officials present in Brazil and is scheduled to return to the UK the following week.

The transfer will fetch Watford, his former club, about £2 million.

Also, Tottenham is nearing an agreement on a £15 million transfer for Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence and has secured a loan for Barcelona defender Clement LLenglet.

After bringing in Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, and Yves Bissouma during an excellent window, Richarlison will be Antonio Conte’s fourth summer signing.

Spurs are expected to offer an initial sum of approximately £50 million, with an additional £10 million in add-ons pushing the total cost for the Brazilian to close to £ 60 million.

Everton and Spurs had been engaged in heated negotiations over the previous few days before reaching an agreement. The Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy had dinner in London on Monday night with good friend and Everton counterpart Bill Kenwright.

Numerous Tottenham players have been stated as potential makeweights, although winger Steven Bergwijn, who was an Everton target has revealed that he would rather join Ajax or another Champions League team.

Conte wants to immediately build his club and get his team ready before the transfer window closes. With the addition of Richarlison Conte’s options would increase because the Brazilian international can play either up front or out wide with ease.

Everton were open to bids for the 25-year-old player because their financial condition is still fragile after surviving relegation last season. The club can raise money by selling players, and they’ll try to give manager Frank Lampard as much cash as they can to reassemble a competitive team.

Richarlison has played in 152 games and scored 53 goals since joining Everton for £40 million from Watford in 2018.

Meanwhile, Chelsea is in negotiations to capture Leeds’ Raphinha after deciding not to increase their Richarlison bid.

However, Arsenal and Spanish giants Barcelona are seriously monitoring the deal with Raphinha. Barcelona have more chances of signing him after being the first team to reach an agreement with Leeds United. However, the deal is left for Raphinha and his agent Deco to choose where next to go this summer.
