Paris Saint-Germain and Brazilian star player Neymar Junior is reportedly getting ready to leave the French Ligue 1 champions this summer if any good offer is presented to him.
Neymar joined Paris Saint-Germain on a world-record fee from Barcelona in 2017 which placed him on a £24m-a-year salary. However, the Brazilian captain has failed to give Paris Saint-Germain the UEFA Champions League trophy during his five years stay at the club.
The 30-year-old is now searching for a new club as he feels that Paris Saint-Germain doesn’t love him again after PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi recently reacted to the team’s shortcomings last season and refused to say if they still need Neymar at the club for next season.
Speaking during an interview with Le Parisien via RMC Sport, Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: “A possible departure of Neymar this summer? What I can tell you is that we expect all players to do a lot more than last season. A lot more! They all have to be 100 percent Obviously, we weren’t good enough to go far. For next season, the objective is clear: to work every day at 200 percent.
“To give everything we have for this jersey, give the maximum and we will see the result. You have to become humble again. “You have to change to avoid injuries, suspensions, and fouls that change a game.”
It is understood that Neymar felt targeted by the president’s comments, and this has moved him closer to the exit door.
However, a transfer for Neymar Junior would be difficult to come by because of his high salary and possible transfer fee.
Some of the top clubs in the world are facing financial issues and signing Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain will require a lot of cash.
The Brazilian is among the highest-paid footballers in the world and still has 3 years in his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
Neymar has been offered to Serie A giants Juventus and his agent has reached out to the club authorities. However, it appears doubtful that he would leave PSG this summer unless there is a drastic change in his pay, as the Italian club has informed the players’ representatives that they cannot afford his present earnings.
Although he hasn’t won the UEFA Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain, the Brazilian has been a great addition to the French team. Neymar Junior has made 144 appearances for PSG, scoring 100 goals and providing 60 assists.
