Paris Saint-Germain and France wonder kid Kylian Mbappe has claimed that the Ligue 1 champions are bigger than him even though he extended his contract which gave him special privileges at the club. The contract made him the highest-paid player in the World.

His big-money contract extension has generated a lot of controversies with some reports saying that he has a role in club decisions. The 23-year-old has denied such claims and admitted that he will continue to give his best as a player to the team next season.

Kylian Mbappe also added that the club would continue to go for European glory and hope to win the Champions League soon.

Speaking during an interview with BFMTV, he said: “PSG is important to me! Maybe I haven’t had enough time to be romantic enough with the fans. I wanted to perform first, but this club means a lot to me, everyone knows.

“I am only entering this project, I was not at the base of the project. With all the changes that are going to happen, great things are going to happen.

“The club comes first. It is not my project. There will be a PSG before me and after me, I just want to bring my stone to the building.”

Kylian Mbappe’s contract renewal brought a lot of joy to supporters in Paris but some powerful members of the Spanish La Liga were unhappy with the decision.

Recall that Mbappe has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid even before last season but made a last-minute decision to stay with Paris Saint-Germain.

The decision left a lot of supporters and players in La Liga disappointed and La Liga’s president Javier Tebas didn’t waste time in reacting to the news. According to Javier Tebas, the contract renewal is “an insult to football” and threatened legal action against the Ligue 1 champions.

His reactions have started a war of words between Paris Saint-Germain and the Spanish La Liga.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has joined the war by saying that the club doesn’t need a striker now because they already have Karim Benzema. Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has told the Spanish La Liga powerful figures to focus on their league because it’s a ‘bit dead’.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi added that Ligue 1 would soon overtake La Liga.

Meanwhile, PSG are ready to release their head coach Mauricio Pochettino this summer with OGC Nice manager Christopher Galtier the favorite candidate to replace Pochettino.
