BVB aren’t the only team interested in Haller; Bayern Munich have also inquired about his availability this summer. However, 90min has learned that Dortmund is optimistic about securing the Ivory Coast international as a replacement for Erling Haaland.

Haaland signed Manchester City in June for a fee of £55 million from Dortmund. With 86 goals in 88 games for BVB, the team must bring in a few attackers to replace their former talisman.

They’ve already acquired Red Bull Salzburg’s highly rated Karim Adeyemi, but it’s evident that Dortmund need an out-and-out target man to replace Haaland, and Haller certainly meets the criteria.

Following a dismal period at West Ham United, Haller has rediscovered his form at Ajax, where he scored 34 goals in all competitions last season, including 11 in just eight UEFA Champions League games.

Along with Haller and Adeyemi, 90min understands that Chelsea is hoping to transfer Timo Werner on loan to BVB this summer.

The German might join Lukaku as a high-profile forward loaning out of Stamford Bridge this summer. Lukaku has agreed to a loan return to Inter, with Chelsea willing to pay a part of the player’s salary to send him back to Serie A.

Sabastian Haller, who is he?

Sébastien Romain Teddy Haller (born 22 June 1994) is an Ivorian footballer who plays as a forward for Ajax in the Eredivisie and the Ivory Coast national team.

Haller began his career with Auxerre before joining Utrecht on loan in 2015 before signing permanently. After two years in the Netherlands, he went to Eintracht Frankfurt, where he won the DFB-Pokal in 2018.

Haller’s performances piqued the interest of West Ham United, who signed him in 2019 for a club-record fee of €49.8 million (£45 million).

Following a dismal period in England, Haller signed for Ajax in 2021 for a club record fee of €22.5 million (£18.8 million). He won the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup in his first six months. During the 2021–22 season, Haller became the first player to score in seven straight UEFA Champions League matches.

Haller, who was born in France to a French father and an Ivorian mother, represented France at the youth level before moving to the Ivory Coast in 2020. He scored his first international goal against Madagascar and will represent his country at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021.
