Portugal national team manager Roberto Martinez has named his 26-man squad for the 2024 Euros in Germany.
The Selecao will kick off their Euro campaign on June 18, 2024, against the Czech Republic in Group C before taking on Turkey and Georgia.
As expected, Cristiano Ronaldo has made Martinez’s attacking options for the tournament. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has been on a roaring form for Al-Nassr and will hope to replicate the rollercoaster form in the tournament which could be his last Euro campaign with the national team.
Also making Martinez’s list is 41-year-old Pepe. Pepe will be Portugal’s oldest international to play a major tournament with the national team. The Real Madrid legend who is currently plying his trade with Porto in the Portuguese elite division will likely be making his last appearance in a major tournament for Portugal national team.
Other big names that have been included in the squad is Manchester United sensation Bruno Fernandes. Fernandes has shone bright in what has been a disappointing campaign for the Red Devils in the just-concluded campaign.
Another Manchester United star Diogo Dalot has been included in the squad. Dalot has struggled for game time at United due to injuries but has been integral in Roberto Martinez’s squad and has been named in the defensive options.
Manchester City defender Ruben Diaz has also made the squad following his impressive campaign with the Cityzens in the English top-flight. Manchester City loanee to Barcelona Joao Cancelo also makes the cut in the defense, including Danilo Pereira, Inacio, Nelson Semedo, and Nuno Mendes.
Atletico Madrid loanee to Barcelona, Joao Felix has made the attacking options, including AC Milan forward Raphael Leao, Liverpool star Diogo Jota, PSG forward Goncalo Ramos, Pedro Neto, and Comceicao will partner Cristiano Ronaldo in the attack.
Joao Neves, Palhinha, Ruben Neves, Vitinha, and Cristiano Ronaldo club teammate Otavio are other midfield options called up alongside Bruno Fernandes.
The goalkeepers are Patricio, Sa, and Diogo Costa.
