According to AC Milan, their legendary striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has signed a new 12-month deal with the club even though he is about to turn 41-year-old in October this year.
The former contract of the 40-year-old with the Serie A champions expired earlier this summer, but negotiations for an extension were already well underway at that point. Hence, Ibrahimovic’s renewal with Milan was always a matter of time.
The current Serie A champions have finally taken to their official website to announce the contract renewal by saying: “AC Milan is pleased to announce that it has agreed upon the right to sports performance of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
“The Swedish striker has signed a contract with the Club until 30 June 2023 and will continue to wear the Rossoneri number 11 shirt.”
Ibrahimovic is thought to have agreed to a large pay cut to stay with Milan longer, because he won’t likely recover from a knee injury until January 2023. He made 11 starts in Serie A last year, and he’ll ultimately be back to provide cover for a forward line that already features Olivier Giroud, Ante Rebic, Rafael Leao, and summer signing Divock Origi, who signed on a free transfer from Liverpool.
