Clubs in the English Premier League will earn a huge sum from UEFA before the commencement of European competitions this campaign.
Seven English clubs will be battling for top honors across the three-tier UEFA club competitions, which have experienced a noticeable format alteration.
This new pattern puts them in a Swiss-style league system instead of the previously adopted eight groups of four, with the top 2 qualifying for the knockout rounds.
The new format will see each club play eight matches in the beginning phase – against seeded opposition, in a system designed to ensure that teams overall play opponents of similar level.
The top 8 clubs in the “final” table will automatically gain passage to the round of 16, where they will be joined by the 8 play-off winners of ties between the teams ranked 9th to 24th in the standings.
Despite there being only 8 matches in the opening stage, European matches will be spread over 10 midweek slots.
How Much Will Top English Premier League Clubs Be Paid For Participating In Continental European Club Competitions?
Anyway, it is pertinent to know how much each English team will earn from basically participating in UEFA competitions this campaign?
We begin with Manchester City, who are hoping to claim their second European title.
Pep Guardiola’s side clinched the UEFA Champions League title in the 2022/23 season, and they have set their sights on the top prize this term.
Reports indicate that coming out victorious in every match in the Champions League could see them receive between the region of £140 million – £145 million.
However, for just being part of the competition, the Cityzens are in line to receive £53 million from the new package.
Liverpool will get at least £51 million from the deal, while Arsenal and Aston Villa will be paid about £46 million and around £33 million respectively.
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, who will be competing in the UEFA Europa League will obviously receive a far less bountiful amount before the competition starts.
The Red Devils and Spurs will each get €12 million for participating in the 2nd tier continental club competition.
Moreover, Chelsea – who will be featuring in the UEFA Conference League this season due to Manchester United winning the FA Cup last term, will apparently receive the sum of just £5 million.
Meanwhile, the new automated Champions League league opening phase draw is slated to take place at 5:00 pm on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
How will the UEFA Champions League Group Stage Draw Be Done?
Clubs will be split into four pots consisting of nine teams, each based on their UEFA club coefficient.
Teams will then be drawn automatically to face two opponents from each of the four pots, one at home and one away.
The Group Stage draw will be automated for the first time in history, with each club drawn against eight separate opponents.
Additionally, the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League draws are due to be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 12:00 pm and 1.30 pm respectively.
It will be fascinating to see who ends up with the claims of the 3 continental titles up for grabs this season.
