We are into the penultimate matchweek in the 2022/23 Premier League season with dragging ties on title race, relegation battle, and European race, all set to be decided.

Futballnews takes a look at five major outcomes expected as we hit the last two matches of the 2022/23 Premier League season

    1. Who will win the 2022/23 Premier League title?

The 2022/23 Premier League title race is officially narrowed down to Manchester City and Arsenal.

Manchester City will be going into matchweek 37 brimming with confidence having open a four point gap at the top with one match outstanding.

If Arsenal lose or draw Nottingham Forest, Manchester City will be confirmed Premier League champions with a win against Chelsea at Etihad.

    1. Who will finish in the top four in the 2022/23 Premier League

The race for Champions League football next season is also shaping up as we head into the penultimate matchday.

Manchester City and Arsenal have secured their ticket for Champions League football next season.

The last two spots is still up for grabs with Newcastle United, Manchester United, and Liverpool dragged into the race.

Newcastle are currently leading the race to join City and Arsenal in the top four. They have 69 points from 36 matches. Manchester United have 66 points from 35 matches, while Liverpool have 64 points from 36 matches.

If Manchester United and Newcastle win their game against Bournemouth and Leicester City respectively, and Liverpool lose to Aston Villa, they will secure ticket for Champions League football next season.

If they all win their game, the race for the top four will then be dragged to the final matchday provided Manchester United drop points in their outstanding game.

    1. Who will make it to the Europa League in 2022/23 Premier League Season?

With the EFL Cup and the FA Cup going to the two Manchester clubs who will finish in the top five in the Premier, the race for the Europa League and Conference League in the 2022/23 Premier League will stretch down to the seventh-place finisher this season.

Note: West Ham will earn an automatic Europa League slot next season if they win the Europa Conference League despite not finishing in the top five.

Based on permutation, Fulham, who are currently 10th on the Premier League table with 57 points, can still qualify for Europe (Europa Conference League).

However, the Marco Silva-led boys are not likely to make the top seven hence the race for Europa League and Conference League slot can be narrowed down to Brighton, Tottenham, Aston Villa, and Brenford.

Liverpool are still in the Premier League top four race

Brighton (58 points) Tottenham (57 points), and Aston Villa (57 points) are in a heated race to join either of Liverpool, Newcastle, and Manchester United to the Europa League should any of the latter fail to qualify for Champions League.

The race for the Europa League involving Brighton, Tottenham, and Aston Villa will be dragged to the last matchday.

Brentford will be ruled out of both Europa League and Conference League football should they lose to Tottenham today.

    1. Who may likely be relegated in the 2022/23 Premier League League Season?

The relegation battle is now going to get tougher with four teams dragged into the race. Nottingham Forest (34 points), Everton (32 points), Leeds United (31 points), and Leicester City (30 points) are all trapped in the relegation battle. Two will join Southampton to Championships next season.

If Leicester City and Leeds United lose their matchday 37 clash then Nottingham Forest will be sure of safety with at least a draw.

However, it is more likely the relegation battle will be dragged to the final matchday.

    1. Who is more likely to be sacked at the end of the season?

A total of 13 managers have been sacked already in the 2022/23 Premier League season. The axe is still hovering over the head of some managers especially in the relegation zone.

Sean Dyche of Everton and Steve Cooper of Nottingham Forest may likely escape the axe at the end of the season.

Dean Smith of Leicester, who was appointed manager for the Foxes in April is already set to leave the club at the end of the season.

Leeds United’ Sam Allardyce was also on a temporary deal and may also leave at the end of the season.
