    The 2022-2023 Nations League campaign will start across Europe from June 2, 2022, and end on 27 September 2023 according to UEFA’s schedule.

    As usual, the third edition of the league comprises all the 55 European member nations including the reigning champions, France.

    Just like the first and second editions of the UEFA competition, the 2022-2023 Nations League is divided into four leagues – League A to D.

    League A, B, and C are made of 16 national teams each. The national teams are divided into four groups and each group is made of four teams.

    While League D has seven national teams. The teams are divided into two groups. One of the groups has four teams while the other has three teams.

    The teams in each group would play against each other in a home and away format. The teams that finish first in the groups in League A will compete against each other to win the league in a knockout format. While teams in the lower leagues fight to gain promotion to a higher league.

    Note that the four groups in league A will produce four group winners. Those four group winners will be paired to play the quarter-final round. The winners will play in the final while the losers will play in the third-place round.

    Important dates to note:

    As mentioned earlier, the 2022–2023 UEFA Nations League will commence on June 2, 2022. The group stage of the competition will end in September 2022.

    While from 14 and 18 June 2023, the quarter-finals and final of the competition will take place. Also, from June 2 to March 26, 2024, UEFA will host relegation play-outs.

    The European football governing body released the draws for the 2022-2023 Nations League on Thursday, December 16, 2021.

    The reigning champions of the league, France have been placed under Group A1 against Austria, Croatia, and Denmark.

    However, the League A group to look out for is Group A3 which consists of Hungary, England, Italy, and Germany. Aside from Hungary, the other three teams are a force to be reckoned with in European football which makes the group the group of death for the coming season.

    Recall that in Euro 2020, England and Germany met in the knockout stage of the competition and England got the better of Germany. While in the final of the European Championship, England met with Italy which defeated them via penalties.
