The nominees for the 2021 Golden Boy award are out and Futballnews has identified the most valuable nominees among the youngsters.
The Golden Boy award is organized for footballers under the age of 21 who are playing in Europe’s top leagues. They are nominated based on their performance within a calendar year and are seen as the future of the game.
Organizers of the 2021 Golden Boy award released a list of 100 players nominated for the award in June 2021. The organizers later trimmed the list to 40.
On October 15, 2021, the organizers are expected to reduce the list to 20 finalists. Among the 20 nominees, the 2021 Golden Boy will be voted for to dethrone Erling Haaland of Dortmund who won the award last year.
Meanwhile, below are the most valuable nominees for the 2021 Golden Boy award
- Pedri – €80 million
Pedri is an 18-year-old central midfielder who currently plays for FC Barcelona. The Spain international who played for the national team in Euro 2020 and the just-concluded Olympic Games has just a season left on his contract with Barcelona. His current market value is said to be around €80 million.
- Bukayo Saka – €65 million
Bukayo Saka is a 20-year-old midfielder who could also play as a winger. He is currently contracted to Arsenal football club. Though he is a Nigerian-born football star, he represented England in Euro 2020. His contract with Arsenal will expire in 2024. His market value is €65 million.
- Jude Bellingham – €55 million
Jude Bellingham is an 18-year-old English central midfielder. He is currently contracted to Borussia Dortmund. He also represented England in the last European Championship. His contract with Dortmund will expire in 2025. His market value is €55 million.
- Eduardo Camavinga – €55 million
Eduardo Camavinga is an 18-year-old French central midfielder. He is currently contracted to Real Madrid. The France international’s contract with Real Madrid will expire in June 2027. His market value is €55 million.
